Service Description

Ready to take your pottery skills a little further? Our 5-week Teapot Series is designed for potters who have some wheel experience who can confidently center their clay and throw cylinders on the wheel. A teapot might seem like just one project, but making a functional one requires you to bring various pottery skills together. Throughout the series, you'll work through the process from start to finish while practicing everything from precise measuring and consistent throwing to trimming, altering forms, and creating functional handles, spouts and lids. We'll break down each stage into manageable steps, with plenty of guidance along the way. You'll learn how each part needs to work together to create a functional piece, while having the freedom to make your teapot your own. Over 4 weeks, you'll practice: -Throwing and shaping consistent forms -Measuring precisely so multiple pieces fit together -Trimming and refining your forms -Altering shapes and adding character to your piece -Creating functional spouts, handles and lids -Attaching and refining multiple components -Decorating and glazing your finished teapot The goal isn't just to make a teapot, it's to put your existing skills together, learn new techniques and become a more confident, capable potter along the way. By the end of the series, you'll have tackled a more complex functional project from start to finish, added new techniques to your pottery toolkit, and (hopefully!) a teapot you're pretty proud of. Previous wheel experience is required.
